New Play Interface
We made a major update to the play page tonight. The interface is much simpler and less cluttered, and the drawing canvas is larger. Head on over to Teledraw and check it out! We would love to hear any feedback you have about the new interface! Send us your comments, questions, or complaints to support@teledraw.com.
Tool Tweaks
This has actually been around for a little while, but was never mentioned anywhere: there are a whole set of keyboard shortcuts available for the drawing tools!
When using rectangle, ellipse, or line tools, you can also now hold shift to get squares, circles, and lines locked to 45 degree angles!
We've also made some tweaks to the paintbucket tool, so it doesn't leave little dots around the fill.
Maintenance Drawings
I know it took forever, but as promised, here are our favorite drawings from the maintenance downtime back in September (in no particular order)!
Hey folks!
Since we posted to Reddit last week, we've gotten a ton of feedback from our new users. We've been working really hard to implement the most requested features, and tonight we're going to be releasing some of them!
One of the biggest complaints from users was that guests and trolls kept ruining threads. We thought about this for a while, and we've come up with a solution: channels.
Channels are a way to play with only certain groups of users.
How it works
When you're on the play page, there will be a dropdown where you can select which channels you want to play in. The next turn you get (after you either play or skip the turn you're on) will be randomly selected from only the channels you picked. Users will be able to select their default channels in the settings page.
Soon users will be able to create their own channels, but we need to work out a few kinks before we can release that feature. For now the options are "Everyone" and "Registered Users".
Our other solution to combatting trolls is our reporting system. All turns and comments (excluding your own) will have a report feature. When a turn/comment gets flagged enough times, the offending user will incur a ban, temporarily barring him from the site. If a user continues to accumulate bans, her bantime will get progressively (and exponentially) bigger.
Filtering Recent Activity
Another common piece of feedback was that the recent activity page was a bit overwhelming at times. To remedy this, we added the ability to filter the feed. Now you can filter by threads you participated in, threads from users you're following, comments, or everything! You will also be able to filter your feed by channel!

In addition to the things listed above, we have been working on a lot of small tweaks, bug fixes, and overal improvements to the site. We're constantly trying to make the site better, so as always, please send us feedback at support@teledraw.com!
In order to roll out these new updates,we need to make a bunch of changes to the database. We're going to be down for maintenance tonight (starting at 11PM EDT). Please be sure to finish your drawings before then, so you don't lose your work! We hope to be back up as soon as possible. We'll even have a nice little space for you to draw us a picture while we're down, and we'll try to post our favorites somewhere after we come back up. :)

What is Teledraw?
While many people have heard of the game Telephone (also known as "Whisper Down the Lane" or "Chinese Whispers"), not many have heard of its written/drawn form—or what we like to call "Teledraw."
Teledraw.com started when three web people who previously worked together at an Ann Arbor Startup Weekend all came to the same conclusion that Teledraw would make an awesome web game.
What's next?
Teledraw is currently in its beta stages, and we are working towards releasing versions of it for the iPhone/iPad. As the site is currently in beta, don't be surprised if you encounter some sort of bug.
